INTRODUCTION TO LAB VIEW SOFTWARE
WHAT IS LAB VIEW?
- Lab view is a platform and development environment for a visual programming language from National Intstrument.
- Lab view is used for data acquistion, instrument control, and industrial automation on a variety of platforms including Microsoft Windows, various flavors of UNIX, Linux, and Mac os.
- In lockdown days students can not attend physical practical classes so it is a very good replacement for do practical experiments in Virtual mode.
A Lab view VI has two panels named as front panel window and block diagram window. Front panel is the user interface. In block diagram window we design our experiment by using various instruments.
Lab view Environment has four palettes given Below;
- Control Palette: The control palette is only available on the Front panel. It contains the front panel controls and indicators we use to create the Experiments. Right click on the front panel to display the controls palette.
- Functions Palette: It is available only on the Block diagram and it contains the objects you use to program your VI, such as Arithmetic Instruments, File and data acquistion operation and function. Right click on the block diagram window to display the Function palette.
- Tools palette: It is available on the front panel and the block diagram window also. A tool is a special operating mode of mouse cursor, when you select a tool, the curser icon changes to the tool icon, use the tools to operate and modify front panel and block diagram objects. select view then click tools palette to appear.
- Function Table: It contains All the instruments used for any experiment.
